About Us
The salt water has been part of our lives for over 40 years, and we have owned sailboats for most of those. We love the PNW and all that it has to offer with the beautiful Salish Sea, access to the Pacific Ocean and the wildlife that inhabit these areas. We have the opportunity to return to SE Alaska this year and continue our exploration of that amazing seascape.

David grew up in Southern California, a bike ride from the beach, and started sailing Lasers at the University of Washington. Julie grew up on the waters of South Puget Sound, sailing with her family.

Our first boat was a 23 foot Coastal Recreation sailboat that plied the waters of the Patuxent River in Maryland, just 5 miles from the Chesapeake Bay. After returning to the Northwest, David raced his 20 foot Lightning on Vancouver Lake. Blue Canary, a 32 foot 2001 C&C 99 came into our lives and we spent the next decade racing in South Sound during the winter and cruising the inland PNW waters as far north as Desolation Sound in the summers.

Dog Star is currently our home since 2017 throughout the year when we are on the water. She is a 42 foot Jeanneau 419 with lots of room for guests and to stretch out on some of our long voyages. We have explored the Broughton Islands in Canada, circumnavigated Vancouver Island, journeyed to SE Alaska and cruised throughout the San Juan Islands and South Sound during the winter.
