Bears

While in Ford's Terror, we had the good fortune to see Brown Bears, close up from the dinghy. This post is just bear pictures-because there were so many good ones! The first encounter was with a sow and 2 cubs on this grassy stretch where they can eat sedges.

The grass was so tall, sometimes the cubs stood up on their hind legs to check on us.

The next encounter was along the rocky shoreline at low tide close to our anchored boats. A sow and her cub walked along the shoreline to get to a meadow. The sow was clearly aware of us, but didn't seem to be concerned.

Notice the teeth on this soft-looking teddy bear.

Junior is trying to keep up and copying everything Mom does.

Mom turned over a rock with no effort looking for crunchy crustaceans.

Junior had a tougher time with it.

The bears were clearly here for a photo shoot.

Time to go now.

About Us

The salt water has been part of our lives for over 40 years, and we have owned sailboats for most of those.  We love the PNW and all that it has to offer with the beautiful Salish Sea, access to the Pacific Ocean and the wildlife that inhabit these areas.  We have the opportunity to expand our usual areas of exploration this year, and will depart May 24, 2021 for SE Alaska.
