We awoke at 4am and checked lighthouse and weather sources. It was still blowing in Grenville, but we decided to poke our nose out and see how it was. It was still blowing around 15-17, but the reports seemed to be less reported out of the channel. And it was all predicted to settle down by noon. We decided to go, with multiple bail out plans along the way. The wind did die down eventually, and it took awhile for the chop to die down. Eventually, we only had swell after Dundas Island--no wind. Not too bad. It began to rain about the time we crossed the border--our first rain since Seattle 22 days ago. We saw a few murres along the way, but no cetaceans.
We arrived at Foggy Bay, ALASKA at 6pm-- almost 13.5 hours underway, 95nm. Whew! We made it! We were elated! We had soup from a can for dinner and went to bed.
We call this "a tugandatow." Loaded with stuff for Alaska.
Green Island Lighthouse, a manned lighthouse in the middle of the East Dixon Entrance.
This is looking out over a reef in very small Foggy Bay. We can see the action of the water in Dixon Entrance from our boat, anchored in here. We didn't see any wildlife in here, except for a couple more of those Red-Necked Loons on the way in. We stayed two nights to wait another weather low to pass by.
Super still reflection. Can you see where the water line is?
This is our set up to watch the finale of "Succession." Home-made baba ganoush (Smoky Eggplant Dip recipe from Smitten Kitchen), Salt Spring Island Ruckles goat cheese, dolmas and black olives. And Negronis. Delish!
Glad you made it to Alaska!! :)
