Shearwater is a great stop for fuel, laundry, and some time off the boat. There is a grocery store with limited fresh stuff, but one can get the basics of eggs and milk. They will take trash and have the best recycling we've seen in BC. There is also a restaurant where we had delicious fish and chips with the Slowboat flotilla group. The Shearwater Marina seems to be up and running in the "post-Covid" time now.
The town of Shearwater is across the bay from Bella Bella, a First Nation village of the Heiltsuk people, which we did not visit on this trip. The boat on the right is the ferry that goes back and forth to Bella Bella.
After visiting the chandlery, we sat down for a selfie with this guy and his dog.
We talked to some friendly local guys who said there were fish out near the lighthouse, so we took the dinghy and down rigger out to check it out. It ended up being a sunset cruise, not a catching trip. Beautiful sunset.
