Stopping for a Soak at Warm Spring Bay

Warm Spring Bay on Baranof Island has a roaring waterfall, small public dock and a boardwalk connecting a few private homes, a whale research office and an inn. The dock was full, but anchoring around the corner was only a short dinghy ride.

Hot mineral spring water is piped to the free bathhouses with a view over the bay.

The hot springs were a short hike away.

Along the way were interesting plants such as False Huckleberry or Mock Azalea (right).

The springs, hot as advertised were adjacent to the roaring river above its exit into the bay.

A walk along the boardwalk to the base of the falls allowed us to watch a flock of Harlequin ducks swimming and hunting for fish in the turbulent water while Mallards looked on.

Slowing things down.

About Us

The salt water has been part of our lives for over 40 years, and we have owned sailboats for most of those.  We love the PNW and all that it has to offer with the beautiful Salish Sea, access to the Pacific Ocean and the wildlife that inhabit these areas.  We have the opportunity to expand our usual areas of exploration this year, and will depart May 24, 2021 for SE Alaska.
